YouthParticipations
Between 23 and 26 July, a group of twelve representatives from FITT, the Municipality of Timișoara and the local youth and student organisations, members of the Local Youth Advisory Council in Timisoara, as well as representatives of Politehnica University and the West University of Timisoara took part in a study visit to the European Youth Centre in Budapest. The visit was organised as part of the TYPIC – Timișoara Youth Participation in Co-Management project, funded by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe.

The main goal was to strengthen local youth participation in decision-making, by exploring the model of co-management and good practices from the Council of Europe’s youth sector.

Over the course of the visit, the participants explored:
  • The values and mission of the Council of Europe’s youth sector;
  • Key programmes of the CoE and EYCB, including the Quality Label for Youth Centres;
  • The European Charter on the Participation of Young People in Local and Regional Life;
  • The principles of youth participation at local level.

Other highlights included:
✔ A guided tour of EYCB and exchanges with the leading and the educational staff;
✔ Brainstorming the future steps for co-management in Timișoara;
✔ A visit to the Romanian Embassy in Budapest.

The participants are eager to continue their efforts to implement a co-management system at the local level in Timișoara, building on the inspiration and insights gained during the visit.

The TYPIC project aims to strengthen the capacity of young people and local authorities in Timișoara to collaborate through co-management, thereby contributing to the development of genuine local participatory governance.
