BuildRes, an Erasmus+ project on reproductive health
Erasmus+
Since 2025, FITT has been a partner in the Erasmus+ project Building Resilience: Empowering Young Families and Reproductive Wellness for Europe’s Future. BuildRes addresses the demographic crisis in Europe by combating the declining birth rate, which threatens the region's economic stability. Therefore, the project aims to create a favorable environment for young people considering parenthood by:
- promoting work-life balance;
- raising awareness about reproductive health;
- strengthening the financial security of families;
- providing educational campaigns and digital tools to help make informed decisions.
Activities include workshops, an online resource platform, and a Europe-wide online campaign.
The goal is to change societal attitudes and implement family-friendly policies, ensuring a sustainable future for young families.
To understand how young people feel about reproductive health, we conducted preliminary research in the participating countries: Romania, France, Greece, Poland, and Cyprus. What did we find? Most respondents do not feel informed about reproductive well-being and family planning. In Poland, 88% said they did not feel informed at all. In France, more than half shared the same sentiment. There is a clear need for accessible, reliable, and engaging information to help young people make informed decisions about their future.
Subsequently, we launched a second, more complex questionnaire to observe what factors influence decisions about childbirth, what the main needs of young families are, and what perceptions exist among them regarding family life.
Who are we addressing?
- Young adults and couples between the ages of 20 and 30 who are considering becoming parents, as well as existing parents who need more support to balance work, family life, and financial planning
- Employers, decision-makers, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and community organizations
Expected results of the project
1. Digital tools and online resources – An online platform for educating young Europeans about reproductive health and family planning.
2. Training course – Training module for youth workers to guide future young parents in using BuildRes tools.
